BARD Launches Corona Relief Fund

We are all in this together, and we all have a responsibility!

The last few days have been quite intense for everyone. We are facing an unprecedented situation which none of us has witnessed in our lifetimes. Businesses have been impacted drastically, which, in the overall bigger picture has effected the economy. In such grave moments when we are all worried for our families, it is our responsibility to care for the people in the society as well, especially those with limited resources.

The Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood (BARD) Foundation has decided to launch “Corona Relief Fund” worth Rs. 10 million under its banner and taken on its shoulders the responsibility to facilitate those who would be in dire predicament within two to three days of complete isolation. Though this is not the normal BARD mandate, the board members have decided to make a special exemption, given the criticality of the situation.

BARD has taken a three pronged approach:

  • Sustenance

Provide ration packs to families in need that would help them to sustain for a month. 200 packs have already been distributed today, while more are being prepared for further distribution.

  • Medical treatment appliances

BARD is working on identifying machineries/equipment needed urgently for treatment of COVID-19 and arranging to purchase these.

  • Preventive care

Provide sanitizers/masks and soaps to individuals and institutions.

BARD will be partnering with credible institutions who already have an established network for successful roll out of this initiative.

BARD is endeavoring to mitigate this global crisis as much as it can, but the impact of this initiative can be scaled up multiple times. We are reaching out to you to be a part of this noble and extremely critical cause. Help BARD make a difference by joining in as per your capacity.

BARD is an approved non-profit organization under the provisions of Section 2(36) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 and all kinds of donations to BARD are exempt from tax. Further, donation to BARD is also eligible for tax credit under the provisions of Section 61(1)(c) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
