Mangla Dam raising project envisages its main crest level to be raised by 30 ft,
from EI. 1234 ft. to EI. 1264 ft. The existing 454 ft. high dam is an earthfill
structure with clay core and gravel and rolled sand stone shoulders. The main and
emergency spillways will be modified for the raised conservation level.
